Tras la sugerencia de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) respecto al aislamiento preventivo como estrategia para la contención y mitigación de la velocidad de propagación de la infección, el Gobierno Nacional adoptó medidas preventivas ante la emergencia sanitaria por Covid- 19, en donde se reglamenta el aislamiento social. Dado que las condiciones generadas por el aislamiento pueden ser una fuente de estrés adicional, como situación imprevista que produce tensión emocional en los individuos, lo que puede llegar a facilitar la presentación de signos, síntomas o comportamientos vinculados con problemas de salud mental y convivencia, o la recaída asociada con trastornos o condiciones mentales preexistentes. No obstante que las personas tengan distintas habilidades  y estrategias de afrontamiento, las circunstancias actuales y la cuarentena pueden llevar a la población a sentir desasosiego e impotencia, así como pensamientos asociados con preocupación respecto a la propia salud física, la de su familiares, allegados o amigos.
